Coefficient of Variation

CFA Level 1 – Quantitative Methods, Coefficient of Variation

The Coefficient of Variation (CV) of a dataset is a measure of  the  amount of dispersion in that data. This is calculated by simply dividing standard deviation by the arithmetic mean   then expressing the result  as a percentage. Thus CV is a relatively simple measure of the dispersion within a set of data.
